The next step

Two weeks ago after i received my Unionbank Eon Cyberaccount card, I immediately register my card to their website for my online transaction. Today when I checked their site my account is already activated, now I can log in and view my account details. Below is a screenshot of welcome email I received from them.

Now that I have accomplished this, my next step is to update my Paypal account. Last week i also received my first deposit-payment for my first writing assignment. I have pending payments for two opps i received last week which makes me excited. I hope more opps will come my way as I need this extra source of income. Life is really difficult nowadays!

And this is what i need, an online community where i can share my views and ideas on different topics. Most of all with PMC we can get support from other mommies and at the same time we gain friends from different parts of the world!

this book is my prize courtesy of Jo Ann :)

For this week's Weekly Fest the prizes are:

An eyeglass for me

Lately i'm experiencing blurred vision and headaches, maybe it's about time that i should wear reading eyeglass. It could be the result of my long hours of staring at my computer's monitor plus of course i know i'm getting older.

I was surfing today when i saw this article about Zenni Optical $ 8 Rx Eyeglasses. I immediately click on the link to their website and wow! i found huge selections of affordable and incredible stylish new frames from Zenni Optical. Because their glasses are cheap i can order as many glasses as i want to match with my office uniforms and casual dresses.

I know i'll get the best deal at Zenni optical in fact Zenni Optical was on FOX news!, i watched the video and found out what other people say about their experiences using Zenni optical prescription glasses. Shopping online is so easy, so if you're considering of buying an eye glass like me why not try Zenni optical prescription glasses.

Are You Being Tested?

When you were a child, do you remember being irritated whenever your favorite television programme was interrupted for 30 seconds by a test of the Emergency Broadcast System?

Those emergency system tests are a lot like the trials that come into our lives. They're unscheduled, usually unwelcome interruptions, and they always seem to come at the worst possible time. But unlike the test patterns on television, life's trials don't last for 30 seconds and then disappear. No, they can last for days, weeks, even years. And the exact reason for them may never be completely clear to us. Trials can make us feel helpless, but we do have control over one vital element of a trial - how we respond to it. Understand this: trials are indispensable to our Spiritual growth. In fact, we cannot grow as we should without them, as much as we might wish we could. It's your test that leads to your testimony!

Every detail works to your advantage and to God's glory.

2 Corinthians 4:15

Prayer for today: Lord, I can't tell what this day holds for me. If it be calm, I'm thankful. But if a whirlwind strikes, may I have the strength to reach out and grasp Your hand. Amen

Car troubles

My husband always dream of driving a brand new car. For four years he’s been driving a second hand car and in all these years he never had peace of mind while driving. That’s because old car’s conditions are unpredictable. Like two weeks ago, the car’s radiator fan did not work, that caused the engine to overheat! Last week we’re supposed to leave for school and office but hubby was surprised when he saw one of the tires was flat just when he had the tire’s air checked the day before. Now we’re hearing a “toktok” sound underneath the car, he said one of the tires ball joint has to be replaced soon. My husband has little knowledge on car fixing that’s why he’s worried sometimes. He said what if the car just stopped in the middle of the road and he’s driving alone. Car trouble and maintenance repair not only gives us headache but “hole in our pockets” as well!

Since the car is a necessity for us as I have mentioned in my previous post, we’re really considering of getting a brand new car, but in our situation the only way we could acquire a brand new car is to get an auto loan. We’re thinking that it’s better to get a brand new car and pay for monthly amortization rather than spending our money on recurring car repairs. I know with our economic situation, where prices of commodities are getting higher, especially gasoline prices are increasing it’s hard to think that we could afford to buy a brand new car. But we live by faith, the Bible says prayer can move mountains and with God nothing is impossible! So we’ll just keep hoping, dreaming and believing.

Surprise call

Last week my cousin and “kababata” made a surprise call. The last time we talked was 2 years ago. That time I heard the depressing news from her that she was a victim of an Online Investment Scam. She said at first it was promising, her investment multiplied so fast. She and her family even had a chance to travel to Hongkong because of that. But eventually her joy did not lasts, her investment just blew away when they found out that the Company has gone away with their hard earned money. What’s worst with my cousin is, since she’s a bank teller she convinced some of the bank clients to join with her. And what happened after that incident, all of those bank clients were after her! They demand that she returned all the money they invested. My cousin was so helpless, she was crying while sharing her sad fate. She just pleaded with her branch manager not to report the incident to the management because definitely she will be terminated. At that time I said to her that financially I can’t help her and the only thing I can offer is my prayer that God will help and deliver her from her situation.

After that conversation for 2 years I did not hear from her, until last week she called me up again. When I heard her voice I thought she has already recovered. But she told me that there were some people still harassing her, she tried her best to return a part of their investment, but they want her to return their 100% investment which she’s not capable of. Now her plan was to go to USA, she said her husband’s sister is in America and that he wants her to try to work there. Last year her husband went to US as tourist and now that he’s back in our country he said it’s now her turn. She said she really do not want to leave her job and that she wants to prove that she doesn’t want people to think that she’s escaping from them and that she don’t want to give in to trials, but then since she was granted with US visa, her branch manager advised her to just file for resignation rather than be terminated, because once terminated she can’t get separation pay and other benefits from the company.

Though it’s hard for my cousin to leave her three kids, her youngest is only 3 months old, she has decided to go to US, she said it’s her only way to financial recovery. She told me she needs money right away to buy for a plane ticket and she asked me if I know where she could apply for a loan. She said it’s her only way to get money because her family already spent for the wedding of her youngest brother and that she can’t ask for financial help. Again even if I wanted to lend her the money she needs, I have nothing to give because of my own situation. I just recommend some financial institutions where she can get quick cash loans. After an hour we ended our conversation with a promise that we’ll see each other before she leaves for US. I’d like to talk to her and pray for her personally, I hope she’ll be able to visit here in our province.

Rest day

Hello! it's monday again, back to work and back to school for kids. It's another busy week ahead of us. Today i'm still thinking on what to prioritize among my lined up duties. Kinda hard to start my Monday in the office, my supposed rest day (Sunday) was not really a rest day for me. We don't have househelp at home so i need to fix things first before i could take a rest.

Yesterday we didn't go to Church, hubby told me that we just stay home so the kids will be able to take enough rest because my son's schedule of Long Test last week was until Saturday. For six days they have to wake up early so yesterday we just let them sleep as long as they want. How i love to do the same, sleep as long as i want! But mommy have to wake up early or else they'll get hungry hehe. Maybe, a few years from now when they can do some chores on their own. But I wonder when that time come, will my Sunday be really a rest day? I'll keep you updated peeps =)

Have a nice day everyone!

The apple tree

I was surfing the internet when i stumble on this article, i thought of sharing this touching story on a sad but true fact on how we take our parents for granted.

A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree. A little boy loved to come and play around it every day. He loved the tree top, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow...He loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him. Time went by.......

The little boy had grown up and he no longer played around the tree everyday. One day the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad. "Come play with me," the asked the boy. I am no longer a kid, I don't ' play around trees anymore." The boy replied, "I want toys. I need money to buy them." "Sorry, but I don't have money.....but you can pick my apples and sell them. Then you will have money." The boy was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily. The boy never came back after he picked the apples.

The tree was sad.. One day the boy returned and the tree was so excited. "Come and play with me" the tree said. I don't have time to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me? "Sorry but I don't have a house. But you can chop off my branches to build your house." So the boy cut all the branches off the tree and left happily. The tree was glad to see him happy but the boy never came back since then.

The tree was lonely and sad. One hot summer day, the boy returned and the tree was so delighted. "Come and play with me!" the tree said. "I am so sad and getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat? " "Use my trunk to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy." So the boy cut the tree trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and never showed up for a very long long time.

Finally, the boy returned after he left for so many years. "Sorry, my boy, but I don't have anything for you anymore. No more apples for yo u...." the tree said". "I don't have teeth to bite" the boy replied. "No more trunk for you to climb on" I am too old for that now" the boy said. "I really can't give you anything.....the only thing left is my dying roots" the tree said with tears. "I don't need much now, just a place to rest. I am tired after all these years." The boy replied "Good! Old Tree Roots is the best place to lean and rest on." "Come, come sit down with me and rest " The boy sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears......

This is a story for everyone. The tree is our parents. When we were young, we loved to play with Mom and Dad...When we grew up, we left them...only come to them when we need something or when we are in trouble. No matter what, parents will always be there and give everything they can to make you happy. You may think the boy is cruel to the tree but that is how all of us are treating our parents.

Love your parents, no matter where they are.

Grey hair

Why does hair turn grey as we grow older?

For some of us, the first grey hairs appeared in our youth, even as early as 15. At 30, about a quarter of the population has same tell-tale signs of the greying to come. Some 28 percent of us will eventually have hair that is completely white. A few fortunate people will get no grey hairs at all.

If your parents or grandparents went grey, chances are that you will do so at about the same age and in the same way. Caucasians have a 50/50 chance that half their hair will be grey or white at the age of 50. Blacks begin to turn noticeably grey about six years later than whites. in their early forties.

But why should hair turn grey or white instead of, say, bright blue?

Cells called melaconytes determine hair colour. By producing and mixing just two basic pigments, eumelanin and pheomelanin, these cells give human hair its wonderful range of colours. Eumelanin may tint each strand of hair any color from the deepest black to the lightest brown; pheomelanin may turn it blonde, golden or red. The volume, shape, brightness and density of the pigments in each individual mix give your hair its distinctive look.

If melaconytes become less active, as they do in our twenties, new hairs growing from the hair folicles carry less of their original pigmentation, and emerge grey. When the melaconyte cells cease work, which they may do naturally according to your genes or when influenced by trauma or disease, your hair will grow without pigment, in the basic colour of its protein--snow white. Sometimes because of the hair's normal colour, the growth of white hairs is hard to detect.

Redheads have some 90,000 hairs on their heads, brunettes about 108,000 and blondes 140,000. Half a blonde's hair could turn white before the overall effect was one of greyness. Scientists say that light-haired people are more likely to become completely grey.

Hair colour and quality, like complexion, is often a barometer of health. Severe trauma may prompt the growth of grey hair. And so may a range of diseases, such as influenza, diabetes, typhus, malaria, some forms of herpes and conditions such as malnutrition, hyperthyroidism and anemia. People exposed t
o some kinds of radiation, whether by accident or in therapy, may go grey or lose their hair.

Can hair turn white overnight? Well, not quite so swiftly, but quickly enough to cause considerable distress. A person may be afflicted by alopecia aerata, a disorder brought on often by stress. It may cause older, darker hairs to fall out in just a few days. If the victim already has a substantial scattering of grey or white hairs, the hair will indeed seem to have turned white overnight.

Can the grey-heads hope to see their hair regain its natural color? Indeed they can unless baldness robs them of the little they've got. recent research has found how to give hair new growth and even its original hues, when greyness results from disease. Anemia sufferers, for instance, who were given B12, found their hair gradually regaining its colour.

For some 40 percent of women and eight percent of men who now use dyes, new products may offer a chance to impregnate their hair with natural melanin, adjusted to almost any shade.

But who says that grey hair is a sign of old age? Every society has outstanding examples to prove the adage that you can have snow on the roof and a blazing fire in the furnace.

The Art of making Friends

I know a lot of moms out there wants their children to become sociable and friendly, but not all children are born with social graces. Friendship building requires skills that, for many kids, it just doesn't come out naturally. Of course, just as some children are naturally gifted at music and math, there are those who have a special talent for making friends and will acquire these skills on their own. Fortunately, no matter how sociable a child is, parents can help boost his or her friendship skills. Here's how to know when children need a little push and some effective ways to give one.

Don't expect too much. Children have their tendencies and tantrums. It's natural. So try to avoid pressuring children to adopt skills that go beyond their emotional and developmental maturity. It takes time and patience.

Respect their style. Some kids aren't wired to be social butterflies. Other's hate parties while others are conscious in groups. By all means, respect their preference. The more you push them to situations where they feel uncomfortable, the more they will resist. Introduce them to two or three friends and before you knew it, they'll feel comfortable to join larger gathering.

Expand their emotional vocabulary. When children mistreat friends, use specific "feeling" words to discuss the incident. A child needs to be able to recognize and communicate his own emotions before he can respond to another's. By naming a feeling, you can help your child understand his own reactions as well as those of others.

Set an example. When you've had a conversation that you think illustrates good listening, social timing, or negotiating skills, tell your child about it. Point out how the problem began, how you felt, how you think your friend felt, and how you managed to reach a resolution.

Don't cross-examine. Parents who are anxious about the child's social abilities have a tendency to conduct a quiz after an event. This questioning conveys your doubt that your child behaved well or not. Try to ask question which will illustrate your concern for him rather than the correctness of his behavior. So even if he did lapse into bad social habits, he will be more likely to face the truth and accept support.

Recognize achievement. Don't limit your compliments. be generous in giving recognitions and praises. Express admiration and approval. It surely feels nice when people appreciate whatever little things you do.

Easy to prepare snacks

With school opening, it's back to the kitchen for mom to cook up new dishes for breakfast or afternoon snacks. I have found a new recipe that is easy to prepare for your kids' snacks and baon. Here are the ingredients and cooking procedure:

Crepes:
1 c water
1 egg
1 tbsp oil
1 c Pancake mix

Chicken Filling:
1/3 c butter
1/2 c cubed cooked chicken
c cubed ham
1/3 c cream of mushroom soup diluted in 1 c water
1 c sliced button mushrooms
1/2 c diced red and green bell pepper
1/2 c peas
1 tbsp chopped parsley
1 tsp marjoram
salt and pepper to taste

Prepare crepes:
In a bowl, combine the water, egg and oil with a fork. Add pancake mix. Beat until smooth. heat a nonstick pan and brush with a little oil. Pour a scant 1/4 cup of the batter into the hot pan. Tilt to the pan from side to side to cover the entire surface. Cook until done then transfer to a plate. Do the same for all the batter. Set aside.

Prepare chicken filling:
In a saucepan, heat the butter the saute the onions until tender. Add the chicken and ham. Stir in the diluted soup. bring to a boil then add the remaining ingredients. Season to taste. Simmer for a few more minutes.

Place a crepe on a plate. Put 1-2 tbsp of filling then roll up the crepe. Do the same for all crepes. Happy cooking!

Happy birthday

Yesterday was Alyana's birthday, she turned 12. We had a simple celebration at my parent's house. Usually every Sunday after attending Church Service, we spend the rest of the day with my parents. My siblings' families are there also, it's a sort of small reunion for us. Since my daughter's birthday fall on Sunday i just brought the ingredients and cooked the party food at my parent's place. It's just a small celebration, we didn't invite any guests, we just had spaghetti, hotdogs, bread and orange juice for our merienda. Although it was a simple celebration we still enjoyed the day, the kids had fun playing, while the "young once" also had fun watching the heart pounding and super exciting boxing fight between Manny Pacquiao and David Diaz. Of course we all know who won the fight.

To my daughter i know you will see and read this message, now that you've grown up i hope you'll become more responsible in all things that you do. Study harder, you know that as a high school freshman there are lots of changes, adjustments and challenges you'll have to face. And most of all i hope mag reduce ka na hehe..
