On the on The Chris Matthews Show, October 26th Chris Matthews leads with: "A different country. America changes. It did in 1932 with the coming of New Deal and in 1980 with the Reagan era. Will the election of 2008 bring an American epoch of Obama? Frustrated by a fitful war. Shaken by a financial free fall. Is the country turning to something truly new?"

Bulacan - The Place To Be

Bulacan according to historical records was derived from the word Bulaklakan ( a field of flowers). The province was blanketed with “bulak” ( Tagalog word of cotton ) when the cotton buds bloomed. It was the province’s principal product before it has ventured to other industries aside from farming and fisheries.Today there’s a yearly celebration in Bulacan called Halaman Festival to promote one of the province’s tourist attraction- the Garden City. It is located at the Guiguinto Cloverleaf just outside the Tabang Exit. The sight of greens and colorful flowers makes the place truly enchanting. It is now the Guiguinteños dream and aim to be known as “The Garden Capital of the Philippines.”

Aside from Garden City, Bulacan also have Pulilan Butterfly Haven and Resort, this place has collection of different species of orchids and butterflies. For nature and butterfly lovers this is another place that you shouldn’t miss when you visit the province of Bulacan.

One of the ancient and among the progressive provinces in the Philippines, Bulacan is now dubbed as the “Northern Gateway from Manila”. Just 15 minutes away from Metropolitan Manila, its strategic location makes it an ideal place for investment and its peaceful community as a great place to live and settle. The industrial and real estates have actually bloomed in the province. Investors are pouring and establishments are sprouting like mushrooms in Bulacan. Like some giant malls in different municipalities of Bulacan. In Marilao you’ll find SM City Marilao, Waltermart in Plaridel, Puregold in Malolos and Baliuag, Robinson’s in Pulilan and soon to open is SM City Baliuag. A lot of restaurants, hotels, resorts and other recreational facilities can be seen in many places in the province.

In spite of the progress and commercialization, the province’s historical places and natural wonders remain intact. The Biak-na-Bato National Park in San Miguel is a favorite among nature lovers, rock climbers, and hikers. With Verdivia Falls and Puning Cave, Doña Remedios Trinidad you can watch the water from the Sierra Madre tumble into the hillsides as one hikes through Barangay Talibak. A place ideal for bikers, mountaineers, and day hikers. In Angat River, Calumpit you can hike, bike or picnic in the placid riverbanks of the Angat River. At Hilltop, Norzagaray is a great view of the magnificent Ipo Dam reservoir, catch also a glimpse of the Sierra Madre mountain.

Other than the historical sites, Bulacan is also popularly known for its colorful and enchanting festivals, the wide selection of elegant native crafts and its sumptuous delicacies. Just recently the province celebrated Linggo ng Bulacan and the Singkaban Festival (Singkaban is the bamboo arch decoration often seen in Philippine fiestas that originated in Bulacan). The celebration also coincides with the anniversary of the Malolos Constitution of the First Philippine Republic. It was a weeklong celebration showcasing Bulacan’s rich cultural heritage. There were talent and beauty contests, pyrotechnic competition, and a lot of other fun-filled events.

One of the highlights of this year’s festivities is the province’s entry to the Guiness book of world records- a 200-meter-long pastillas equivalent to approximately 5,800 regular size pieces of pastillas, which was presented to the world last September 12 in front of the Capitol Building.

The provincial government is investing in a lot of projects to respond to the demands of the times. Its officials and the people of Bulacan give their unswerving dedication to make their province a center of growth, history, culture, and the arts.

We invite you to come, visit and experience the best of Bulacan! and Experience Philippines!!

Let us also support the Walang Iwanan sa Bayan ni Juan, and explore the wonders of the Philippines in Tourism Pilipinas 2009

Chat with a first time mom

I had a chat with my officemate this morning and she's so happy and excited to tell stories about her new born baby. Aside from being a first time mom she also waited for 4 years before this miracle baby came into her life. Hmm imagine the smile on her face.

She asked me where she could buy a nice stroller for her baby so i suggest Babyearth.com, this online shop sells over 150 different types of strollers from top brands like Bugaboo, Orbit, Quinny, Stokke, BOB, Phil & Ted's, Maclaren and Joovy. With this wide choices I'm sure she'll find the right one for her cute little baby.

Lifting machine

Our company uses lifting machine to carry, transfer and load chemicals from production area to warehouse and delivery trucks. These past weeks this lifting machine or forklift has been in and out of the auto repair shop and it causes delays in our plant operation. The management is considering of getting a new lifting machine and I was assigned to look for a crane manufacturer. So today I’ll be busy with a new job assignment. But I’ll make sure I can still blog hop and drop during break time, so see you later friends :)

Double trouble

Our computer mouse at home needs replacement so we bought a new one last Saturday. I chose an optical mouse with usb connector for a change thinking that it’s just a plug and play device. My kids were so excited to use the new pc mouse when we arrived home so I immediately attached the usb cable to the port but to my dismay the mouse didn’t work. I open the website of the manufacturer to download the device driver, after downloading I restart the computer but still it cannot detect the new device! Husband is getting upset as well as the kids. Me? I’m getting mad! hehehe I don’t know how to trouble shoot computer problems and I’m afraid to experiment ‘cause it might cause more trouble.

So I just thought of bringing the pc mouse in our office and tried it in my office computer today. I plugged the mouse and tried it without re-starting the computer, yikes! it didn’t work! I unplugged the new mouse and plugged the old one but it didn’t work either. Now I’m in trouble! I’m very dependent to a mouse device and using the keyboard alone is a big problem, I’m not familiar with the use of some function keys..hehehe. With my fingers crossed I shut down the computer, plugged again the old mouse and then re-start my computer. Thank God it works!

But i’m still hoping I could use my new mouse so, from the manufacturer’s website I downloaded the mouse driver and tried again. Finally after downloading the driver it was detected by my computer and I’m using it right now. I thought I would have to return to the computer store and ask for a replacement, I’m glad I was spared from such hassle.

God deserves our grateful praise!

Sing to the Lord, bless His name; proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. – Psalm 96:2

My lips shall praise You. Thus I will bless You while I live. – Psalm 63:3-4

When I was in College we used to attend at Cathedral of Praise in Manila. The church building is as big as a theater, fully air conditioned and very well lighted. The church has state of the art musical instruments and a group of great singers. Every time the music begins to play and the praise and worship service starts there’s no way you can’t feel the presence of God. It was an awesome experience! and I really miss those days.

Today I read that National Cinema Media is hosting an event at Silver Spring, Maryland this coming October 22 and 23, 2008 to mark the first-ever inaugural Theatre Church Conference. This event will be attended by all respected church leaders and pastors to discuss about spiritual topics and theater worship. If only I live near Maryland I wouldn’t let this event to pass.

If you have time and interested, find out more about this conference at National Cinemedia website. Find out more about this conference and take this chance to have a theater church experience.

Psalm 96:2 encourages us to sing praise to God who reigns above, the God of all creation, the God of power, the God of love and the God of our salvation. God’s great power deserves our grateful praise!

My Mom is a Survivor

Here's a very inspiring poem that i would like to share, i saw this while surfing. This poem is about the thoughts and feelings of a child on her dying mother. I had tears in my eyes while reading the poem it reminds me of how I've escaped death in the past. Now I'm trying to survive and live a normal life for my family.

Hope this poem inspires you as much as i do.

My Mom is a survivor,
or so I've heard it said.
But I can hear her crying at night
when all others are in bed.

I watch her lay awake at night
and go to hold her hand.
She doesn't know I'm with her
to help her understand.

But like the sands on the beach
that never wash away ...
I watch over my surviving Mom
who thinks of me each day.

She wears a smile for others ...
a smile of disguise!
But through Heaven's door
I see tears flowing from her eyes.

My Mom tries to cope with death;
To keep my memory alive.
But anyone who knows her knows
it is her way to survive.

As I watch over my surviving Mom
through Heaven's open door ...
I try to tell her that angels
protect me forevermore!

I know that doesn't help her,
or ease the burden she bears.
So, if you get a chance, go visit her.
Show her that you care.

For no matter what she says ...
no matter what she feels.
My surviving Mom has a broken heart
that time won't ever heal.

Great investment opportunity for retirees

I’ve been working for 15 years already and time will come that I’ll have to retire from work. Luckily our company has retirement benefits allotted to all regular employees. And as for my retirement pay I already have plans to invest some of it in real estate.

I read that Panama is a nice place to live with. This beautiful city has been noted as one of the world’s top 5 retirement place for seven years by International Living Magazine. Because of its beautiful and historic places the city attracts many tourists to visit their place and many retirees invest or stay at Panama City for good. Panama is known mostly for its famous canal, the country's natural attractions offer an irresistible lure to far-sighted travelers. This oft-overlooked country offers some of the finest birding, snorkeling and hiking in the Americas. Panama's charms include its stunning coastline of palm-fringed beaches and its astounding wildlife.

Hotel-view01-old

There’s a hotel in Panama, the oldest operating hotel in the city that is about to become its most exciting urban destination. The Hotel Casco Antiguo is a great opportunity for investment. They have 32 hotel condo units for sale which includes a 5-star amenities and services. So if you are planning to retire in Panama City or just looking for the best place to invest, visit and register for an eBrochure here to know more about this great investing opportunity.

Special gift for special occasion

On October 19 my parents will celebrate their 39th wedding anniversary. I’m looking for a nice gift for both of them. It’s a very special occasion and I want my gifts to be something special also.

Today almost everything is already available online that’s why I always avail the internet service whenever I need something. For online stores Shop wiki is the site which I always use as my reference. Shop Wiki is the largest shopping comparison site on the web. With 200,000 stores and 250 Million products you can find more deals than any other comparison site. They do not sell anything, but provides enough relevant information to help you make the best choices and deals. Through their facility you can search for the product you need and compare their prices between various stores before you buy them. From the list of wide product you can narrow your search results by price, brand name, store or special features, once you have done a search, read their product reviews to help you decide whether to buy the product or not.

As for my gift, i’m thinking of a nice jewelry for my mother and a watch for my father. Well, I better visit Shop wiki now and check their latest shops of jewelry and watches and read some buyer's guide as well.

Wholesale clothing distributor

Are you in a clothing business or you're just planning to start your own? Here's a great site that I've discovered, MerchandizeLiquidator.com is a wholesale clothing distributor online that offers list of liquidated clothings in pallets, lots, and even truckloads. They have huge supplies of low budget apparels and other saleable items. Customers have wide range of choices from jackets, jeans, blouses and tops, to pants, shorts, dresses, skirts, and coats. Merchandize Liquidator distributes women and men's clothing, children's clothing, handbags for ladies, jewelry, cosmetics, lingerie, shoes, and even furnitures. They provide the customers with the latest information, inventory availabilities and quality of new, overstock, surplus, used and salvages goods.

Merchandize Liquidator supplies wholesale urban and wholesale designer clothing liquidation from high end department stores. They sell not just ordinary brands but very well-known brands such as Ralph Lauren, Polo, Calvin Klein, Guess, Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, Tommy Bahamas, Rocawear, Apple Bottoms, American Rag, EckoRed, Charter Club, Club Room, Simply, Union Bay, Yank, XOXO, Fubu, Nautica, Kids Headquaters, Green Dog, Sean John, True Religion, Jeffrey Been, Claiborne, and more. They guarantee that all the designer and name brand merchandizes are genuine and authentic. For EBay sellers or those specializing in “hard-to-find” fashions this site is recommended.

Whether your business is well established with many retail outlets and warehouse or just starting out, Merchandize Liquidators can accommodate all your requirements. It is certainly more profitable to buy in bulk for your clothing business. I am also considering setting up an online clothing store and I already bookmarked this site for my future reference. Party food

Next month will be my son's birthday and as early as possible i want to prepare and plan for his birthday party. Last year he turned seven years old but he got sick at the time of his birthday (he had mumps) that's why we were not able to give him birthday party. This time my son requested to celebrate his birthday in school since it falls on Monday. And so we agreed anyway it's just a simple party with his 18 classmates only as guests.

For the party food i want to make it something different so i'm trying to search some recipes online. I was intrigued when I came across Mexican recipes especially this recipe called Beef Carnitas Empanadas. Carnitas is a Mexican dish of braised pork that's cooked until very tender and shredded or torn into small bits. This beef version features carnitas as filling for empanadas, but you can also use it in tacos, enchiladas, or burritos. Empanadas are Mexican-style pastries filled with meat, vegetables, or even dessert. I might consider this recipe in my list, the empanada in the picture looks yummy :)

Three Strangers

Hello readers and friends! It's Monday again and it's another busy week for all moms out there just like me. To start this day and to inspire our week ahead let me share with you this email i received from a friend. The story is really inspiring and it teaches a valuable lesson. So read on :)

A woman came out of her house and saw 3 old men with long white beards
sitting in her front yard. She did not recognize them.

She said "I don't think I know you, but you must be hungry. Please come in
and have something to eat."

"Is the man of the house home?", they asked.
"No", she said. "He's out."

"Then we cannot come in", they replied.
In the evening when her husband came home, she told him what had happened.

"Go tell them I am home and invite them in!"
The woman went out and invited the men in.

"We do not go into a House together," they replied.
"Why is that?" she wanted to know.

One of the old men explained: "His name is Wealth," he said pointing to one
of his friends, and said pointing to another one, "He is Success and I am

Love." Then he added, "Now go in and discuss with your husband which one of
us you want in your home."

The woman went in and told her husband what was said. Her husband was
overjoyed. "How nice!!", he said, "Since that is the case, let us invite

Wealth. Let him come and fill our home with wealth!"
His wife disagreed. "My dear, why don't we invite Success?"

Their daughter-in-law was listening from the other corner of the house. She
jumped in with her own suggestion: "Would it not be better to invite Love?

Our home will then be filled with love!"
"Let us heed our daughter-in-law's advice," said the husband to his wife.

"Go out and invite Love to be our guest."

The woman went out and asked the 3 old men, "Which one of you is Love?

Please come in and be our guest."

Love got up and started walking toward the house. The other 2 also got up
and followed him. Surprised, the lady asked Wealth and Success:

"I only invited Love, Why are you coming in?"

The old men replied together: "If you had invited Wealth or Success, the
other two of us would've stayed out, but since you invited Love, wherever He
goes, we go with him. Wherever there is Love, there is also Wealth and Success!!"

Happy Monday straight from my heart,

Cheap but good quality eyeglass

In my previous post I wrote about getting my own eyeglasses. I didn’t take it seriously then, I thought my visions were still fine. But last month when i renewed my driver’s license and took a reading test that’s the only time i realized I already need a prescription eyeglass. I’ve learned from the reading test that my right eye has difficulty in reading at far and that it needs more correction than my left eye. I am nearsighted so I can only see and read clearly when the object is near.

Since I really need prescription eye glass I checked again Zennioptical.com, I’ve bookmarked this website before for my reference. I browsed their site and checked the latest eye glasses and frames. It’s nice to see some new arrivals and still at the very affordable prices. What’s good about Zenni is that their glasses are cheap but the quality is not compromised that’s because they manufacture their own products and they sell it directly to customers. They have no middlemen and no advertising project. But in spite of that, they are getting popular because of the testimonies of increasing satisfied customers. I’ve learned that aside from Fox News, Zenni was also featured and even recommended to consumers by the popular The Clark Howard Show. With all these positive feedbacks about Zenni optical glasses I am now convinced to try their eye glass by myself. Here’s a picture of my chosen eyeglass from Zennioptical.

Chicken inasal restyled

Filipinos love barbecue. Where there is smoke and the rich aroma of meat cooking on a grill is where you'll find barbecue addicts. This explains the success of many barbecue business ventures in the country.

A recipe from a food magazine caught my attention. It's a restyled recipe of chicken inasal. The large cuts of meat were reduced to smaller portions using boneless and skinless chicken breasts that were cubed. The skewers used were smaller too. The original marinade recipe was followed but the resulting dish took on a healthier and more refined look and taste.

The ingredients are as follows:

3 pcs. boneless chicken breasts cut into 1 inch cubes
4 cloves minced garlic
1 tbsp. minced ginger
1/4 tsp. cracked black peppercorns
juice from 1 lemon or 1 lime or 2 calamansi
1/4 cup vinegar (palm, cane or white vinegar)
1 tsp. annatto water (1/2 tsp annatto seeds dissolved in 1 tbsp water, discard seeds)
1/4 tsp. rock salt
6-8 pcs. skewers (6-inch)
sinamak vinegar

Procedure:

  1. In a bowl, combine chicken, garlic, ginger, pepper, lemon juice, vinegar, annatto water and salt. Cover and marinate for an hour.
  2. Remove the chicken from the marinade. Thread 3 to 4 pieces of chicken in each skewer. Boil the marinade to make it safe for basting the chicken during the cooking.
  3. Grill skewered chicken over hot coals until both sides are cooked, basting occasionally with the marinade. Serve with sukang sinamak or any vinegar-based sauce.
If you're not familiar with sukang sinamak, here's how to prepare this infused vinegar:

3 cups vinegar (preferably palm but cane or any white will do)
2 heads peeled garlic
3 inches peeled ginger, cut into 1/4 inch strips
1/2 cup red and green bird's eye chilis (siling labuyo)

In a clean long neck bottle, pour in the vinegar then add the garlic, ginger and chilis. Cover and let stand overnight before using to allow the infusion of flavors. Reserve for future use. Add more vinegar to the bottle as the vinegar is used up.

Survey: Fall TV Season Has Begun

Nuffnang made my day!

Hi there! Mommy elvz is back to blogging after two days of having flu and i'm back to work also! My fever and headache are gone though i still have cough and colds.

Since i'm back to my usual routine the first thing i did again is to check all my mails and what a great day to start! i received good news from Mommy Ruby and LJ Diaz informing me that i was one of the 68 lucky bloggers chosen at Nuffnang Philippines. Thanks Mommy Ruby and LJ for taking time to leave me your messages.

And to Nuffnang Philippines thank you so much for this great contest, we're looking forward for more :) To see the detailed list of winners check their website HERE.

Down with flu

What a terrible headache i had last night! i was also chilling with high fever. Last week i was very tired taking care of my daughter in the hospital, i had sleepless nights and had a bad appetite. I didn't had the chance to rest 'cause after we were discharged at the hospital i am back to work the following day. This mom's body finally gave in and i'm down with flu.

I can't sleep last night because of my headache, while in pain i thought of those persons sick with brain tumor. I thought to myself if the pain they experience is three or five times the pain i had, now i understand why they prefer to just die rather than extend their life and experience that pain over and over. When you're sick there are so many thoughts running around your mind like what if i suddenly die what will happen to my family. Just like when i had a car accident if God did not gave me another chance to live i don't know what will be my family's future. That's when i realize the importance of life insurance, nowadays there are insurance companies that offers guaranteed issue life insurance. In this type of insurance there are no medical questions, no medical examinations and no medical tests needed. For a disabled like me this kind of insurance suits me and i'm willing to avail it for my family's future.

Home theater sconces

Remember my post about my dream of having our own Home Theater? Well up to now it's still a dream.. hehe. Anyway i do hope my dream will come true and while waiting for that day to come i already made plans on how to set up and decorate our home theater room in the future. A home theater lighting for special effects is definitely in my list these lights will give the room a "feel" that is, you're like on a real theater. I've searched for online stores that sells home theater sconces and i found these beautiful black, powder coated sconces.

I'm sure husband will like these sconces.. Wish we could have them soon!

Teen acne

In my previous post i shared some tips on how to use blended cucumber as an alternative treatment to acne. I did more research on acne treatments and this time it's for my teenage daughter. Like most teens she also experience having pimples or mild acne. Mild acne is considered a normal condition of puberty continuing throughout the teen years. During puberty increased levels of androgen hormones stimulate the sebaceous glands to grow and produce more sebum. When there is excess sebum production, the follicle can become plugged, the skin cells of the follicle lining shed more quickly and can form sticky clumps. Bacteria and dead skin cells can combine with the sebum in the clogged pore.

For teenagers it is best to treat acne the natural way, here are some general tips to make the skin pimple or acne free:

To cleanse an acne-prone face, rinse well with warm water and pat dry with a clean soft towel. Gently wash it twice a day. Avoid scrubbing with washcloth or use harsh, high pH soaps or abrasive cleansers, too much friction can worsen the acne. A mild calendula soap is fine. Avoid over washing your face since this can make it dry and irritated. Skin must maintain the proper pH levels to be healthy. A lot of skin products contain chemicals, preservatives, fragrance or coloring agents, these chemicals can make the problem worse. So beware of using these types of skin products, and make sure they are hypoallergenic or made of organic or natural ingredients.

I'm a survivor

So many trials this week.. My daughter was confined at the hospital and i wasn't able to go to work, i missed some online opportunities, i have bills to pay, etc.. Though my daughter is already out of danger I can't say the storm is really over. Still as i have said, there are huge bills haunting us plus we need more money for my daughter's medication at home.

During this lowest times in my life i'm thankful that God always reminds me of my faith in Him. Just this morning one of my Churchmate who always send inspirational messages sent this to me:

2Timothy 4:7-8 says, "I have fought the good fight, i have finished the race, i have kept the faith."

"Life always involves a fight, a race, and a test. When things get tough, remember your identity... YOU'RE A FIGHTER! A FINISHER! A CHRISTIAN WARRIOR! AN OVERCOMER!

Thank you Lord for these comforting words, You give me strength and hope. I believe I am a survivor mom and that I can overcome all these trials because Jesus is in my heart.

Have you heard about robo calls or political dialing? I wonder if Obama and McCain have utilized this service. If you’re not familiar with the voice broadcast or robo calls services let me share with you what I have learned at Myvoicedialling.com.

Unlike TV, radio or direct mail, the candidate may easily change his or her message through voice broadcasting. This voice message can be recorded within minutes and that message will be delivered to all voters instantly! A day in the hospital

Remember my post about our postponed activities? I wrote that my daughter had fever and last Monday she was admitted at the hospital. For two nights she had high fever that's why i've decided to bring her to the doctor for check-up the following day, we're worried 'cause she might have dengue fever. At the hospital the doctor had her blood examined, the result shows her blood platelet is quite low although it's still above normal. He said it could drop down anytime if she really has dengue fever so it's better to monitor her condition. And so he recommends that we stay at the hospital for further tests and monitoring.

So we stayed at the hospital overnight and luckily the following day after another blood test dengue fever was ruled out since her platelet count already increased from the previous test result. Since she's free from danger we request her doctor to allow us to go home and just continue her medication at home.

McCain and Obama clashed over taxes, war and the economy in the first of three debates. The financial crisis shifted the initial focus from foreign to domestic issues.

Its one month left before Halloween and as early as today most of Department Stores or Business establishments are already preparing for this occasion. This Saturday Robinson’s Mall in Pulilan will have its grand opening and I’ll check if there’s Halloween costume on sale. Here in our village we celebrate this occasion yearly. We have fun and exciting contests like the best in Halloween costumes, dance and singing contests. This year the officers of our homeowners’ association are already planning for this event.
