Cultivate a thankful heart

What will happen if we cultivate a thankful heart?

David said, "I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth." A thankful heart should be a way of life for us. But did you know that it can save your life? When Jonah disobeyed God and ended up inside the whale, he told the Lord, "I will sacrifice to You with… thanksgiving" (Jonah 2:9). When he did, God made the fish spit him up on dry land. When you're in the pits and all hell is breaking loose around you, that's when you need to raise your voice in praise. Nothing demonstrates trust like thanking God when you're in the throes of crisis.

A thankful heart does two things:

a) It builds your faith. The reason "we [can] walk by faith [and] not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7), is because we know that regardless of the circumstances, God's working on our behalf (Romans 8:28). David said, "Magnify the Lord with me" (Psalm 34:3). To magnify something is to enlarge it. When you focus on God instead of the problem, God becomes bigger and the problem becomes smaller. Plus, "Faith comes by hearing… the Word of God" (Romans 10:17). Hearing God's promises coming from your own lips causes faith to rise in your heart. So start talking!

b) It restores life. Before raising Lazarus from the dead, Jesus looked up to Heaven and said, "Father… thank You that You have heard Me. And I know that You always hear Me" (John 11:41-42). Something wonderful happens when you start thanking God for saving, protecting and providing for you. Your faith soars. You gain the confidence to command those things in your life that you thought were dead to live again. So, cultivate a thankful heart!

Desktop memory

It frustrates me when there are available online opportunities for me but i missed and wasn't able to grab them because my desktop computer is too slow. I thought at first that it was only due to our internet provider's slow connection but i've learned that my computer also contributes to this factor. I was told that i need to upgrade my computer's memory to improve it's speed and performance. Kung Hei Fat Choi! I thought it is Happy New Year! in English translation but I only learned yesterday that it’s actually Congratulations and Good luck :)

Last night our sleep was interrupted when our Chinese neighbor celebrated the coming of the Chinese New Year with lots of fireworks. I think the fireworks’ blast and display lasted for about half hour. Our sleep was cut short that’s why I’m so sleepy right now. Oh well it’s our office lunch break already, I‘ll have a quick nap first. I’m loaded with jobs today and I don’t want to have a terrible headache later :(

But before i go, I wish everybody a healthy, wealthy and prosperous Chinese New Year!

The “hunt” continues

My quest to find the best diet pill is not yet over so the hunt continues. I have searched different types and brands of diet pills but so far I’m not satisfied with all the product reviews I have read. So I can’t decide yet which diet pill to choose. Oh well, today i’ll take a look at Hydroxycut reviews I heard that Hydroxycut is a good fat burner. Hmm if this is true then I might consider na this one for me.^-^

A sad fate

BRAZILIAN MODEL'S HANDS, FEET AMPUTATED. This news headline caught my attention so I immediately read the whole story.

The 20-year-old model’s hands and feet were amputated after contracting a severe urinary infection. Mariana Bridi da Costa a finalist to represent Brazil in the Miss World contest was diagnosed with infection by the Pseudomonas aeroginosa bacterium, which can often prove fatal. Septicemia set in her limbs, cutting off circulation and forcing doctors to amputate. The infection quickly spread, causing her to go back to hospital for tests that revealed her condition. Her father, Agnaldo da Costa, told the news that "the concern is over her life" that’s why the Surgeons had to act to remove her damaged hands and feet. She fell ill on December 30, but was initially misdiagnosed with kidney stones.

Upon reading this news, my daughter suddenly entered into my mind. Last year she was confined in the hospital because of urinary tract infection.. Thank God it didn’t happen to her.

President Obama Inauguration: New Birth of Freedom

US President Barrack Obama takes his oath as the 44th and the first black president to occupy the White House. The first African-American President of the United States, has called his swearing-in-ceremony as "A New Birth of Freedom," he had chosen to use former US President Abraham Lincoln's phrase "A New Birth of Freedom" to mark the historic occasion. Obama emulated Lincoln, who was instrumental in liberating the Black Americans from slavery. The theme is also chosen for the Inauguration by the Joint Congressional Committee for Inaugural Ceremonies and commemorates the 200th birth centenary of Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln is considered as Obama's idol.

Today a new chapter has been opened not only in American history, but also in the world history. The world community generally believes that Obama and his team could save US from recession and world from the US-triggered global financial crisis, and likewise improve US geopolitics and world peace. Experts believed that Obama could succeed by focusing his domestic policy on consensus-building and economic rescue and anchoring his foreign policy on cooperation and calculated response.

Well i believe the world's future is not only in the hands of a powerful man or people, but our future is in the hands of our God. When Moses led the Israelites to freedom, he's not a powerful man.. he's just an ordinary man who believe and trust in the power of God.

We can only experience " New Birth of Freedom" if we obey what God said in His words:

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."-2 Chronicles 7:14

Wanted: best diet pill

I always promise myself that I will go on a diet to loose weight but I’m having a hard time doing it the natural way so I’m considering of taking diet pills. I know I can find the best diet pill for me, i already started reading some diet pills review over the Internet. Today I will continue with my search and will try to make another post about it to keep you updated.

BFAD advisory on US peanut butter

I heard in the news this morning that Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) has issued an advisory for the public to refrain from purchasing and consuming US peanut butter products that are being recalled by its US manufacturer. Kellogg Co. on Friday announced a US-wide voluntary recall of selected peanut butter products due to salmonella concerns.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause infections, fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. For more information on salmonella, visit the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website (http://www.cdc.gov).

The following are Kellogg’s lists of products produced on or after July 1, 2008 which are possibly contaminated with salmonella.

Hy-Vee Inc. announced January 17 the voluntarily recall the following products made in its bakery departments because they contain peanut butter that has the potential to be contaminated with salmonella:

Peanut Butter Cookies, Monster Cookies, Peanut Butter Reese's Pieces Cookies, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies, Lunchbox Reese's Pieces Cookies, Lunchbox Peanut Butter Cookies, People Chow Party Mix and Assorted Truffle Fudge. All sell-by dates are included in this recall. The products are sold in various packaging and quantities and have a Hy-Vee price label attached.

Perry’s Ice Cream on January 17 also announced a voluntary recall of select ice cream products containing peanut butter because the products have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Perry’s Ice Cream, in a press statement posted in US FDA Web site, said PCA is one of Perry’s peanut butter sauce suppliers.

Perry’s Ice Cream said it is recalling ice cream products containing peanut butter sauce, which have been recalled by PCA. It said that Perry’s Ice Cream has not received any consumer illness complaints about its products. It said the affected products for recall have been distributed in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia.

Products affected by the Perry’s Ice Cream are as follows:

• Perry's Premium Peanut Butter Cup Craze Ice Cream 1/2 Pint
• Perry's Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream 1.5 QT, 1.75 QT AND 3 GL

King Nut Companies, a US distributor of peanut butter manufactured for them by PCA, had announced last January 10 a recall of peanut butter distributed under the King Nut label.

King Nut, in a press statement posted in the US FDA Web site, said it recalled its peanut butter products as soon as it was informed that salmonella had been found in an open five-pound tub of King Nut peanut butter.

So for peanut butter lovers out there take note of those products listed above, if you purchased any of those products, the company urged its consumers to ask for a refund or to simply destroy those items.

Home lightings

I like houses with chandeliers and beautiful lightings, they are very appealing to my eyes. Unlike in the past, chandeliers were used solely for the decoration of castles, mansions, and luxury hotels, but today, it has become common for chandeliers to be seen and used in the decoration of ordinary homes, some restaurants, and most of the classy hotels. The warm light and sparkle a chandelier adds in every room makes it really enticing.

Today chandeliers come in varied sizes and styles, so whatever kind of space you have you are sure to find a chandelier that suits your need. You just have to choose a chandelier that complements the style of your home. Home décor experts advise homeowners to buy one that complements the time period and architectural style of the house rather than the current decorative style.

When buying a chandelier the first aspect to consider is the size of the room. The general rule is that the chandelier should be two inches in diameter for every foot that the room is wide. The next thing to consider in choosing the appropriate chandelier type would be to check on the height and structure of the furniture in your room. If you have a tall hutch, you may not hang the chandelier wherein it will hang just above that piece of furniture, since it will definitely give the room a crowded look. There must be enough head space so that no one would run into, and hit the chandelier when crossing the room. This is my frustration! Our ceiling is too low that even a small and simple chandelier would not fit into it. Anyway, since I can’t use chandelier in our home, I just concentrate on our bathroom lighting and under cabinet lighting. I used beautiful lights and accessories on our bathroom and cabinets to add a little spice :)

Quick relief for stress

Stress is a serious office concern, and many office workers and employees do not realize how stress can hurt their job performances, especially efficiency.

In my case, as a working mom i handle too many pressures almost everyday (both on my job and at home) which causes too much stress on me! How about you, are you in similar situation? Oh well i found some helpful tips that i want to share with you, here are some simple ways of dealing with stress.

• Remove sugar from your breakfast, if not from your whole day. Sugar can make you sluggish, and impair your mental processes; this is especially crucial for those in white collar jobs.

• Increase your water intake. Staying hydrated will not only have health benefits for your body, but will also keep you from feeling restless and dry.

• Instead of coffee take green tea. While caffeine can stimulate and keep you awake, there are certain health problems associated with its excessive intake. Green tea on the other hand contains antioxidants and other good nutrients.

• Be concerned about your sleep debt, and don’t oversleep on weekends. Your body needs a regular sleep schedule, and besides, it is not possible to compensate for sleep debt by oversleeping you’ll sluggish and tired.

• Don’t sleep with the TV on. The noise may cause you to have a restless, non-refreshing sleep.

• Get a massage; your muscles stimulation as you don’t use them at a desk job.

• Focus on your breathing and study alternative breathing techniques that can de-stress you at desk.

• Indulge in treatments which can help you detox or relax. Pampering yourself is one of the best ways to increase efficiency.

Get back in shape

After the holiday season one thing is certain, that is most of us have gained weight. To help us loose those unwanted pounds I discovered Stimerex ES as a good fat burner. It's back to normal

Thank God our internet connection is back! For almost two days i cannot access the internet here in our office and that makes me really mad and sad. I'm mad because I have lots of things to accomplish and i can't do anything, sad because i can't do may daily rounds of blog hopping and dropping.

Though i have access at home my computer on the other hand SUCKS! It has a very low memory that's why it's too slow and since i have very limited time in the evening i can't visit, drop, and even update my blogs, the only i thing i can do is to check my emails.

So this is it for now, I've got to update and finish some tasks for my other blogs...after that will try to catch up on dropping and reading other blogs as well. I just hope our internet provider will not fail again..

Back to work... back to school

The long vacation is over everybody's back to work and school today. Once again we're back on our daily routine, one of the hardest part of it is to wake up at 4:15 am everyday especially now that we have a very cold weather it's really hard to get out of bed and take a shower! brrrr...This morning my husband has to carry our son from his bed to our living room just to wake him up. ^_^

While my kids are excited to go back to school to see their classmates again, i'm super lazy naman to go back to work hehehe.. but whether i like it or not i know i have to report to work again. So it's start of another busy days for working moms like me. May we have enough strength to face our daily chores and responsibilities today and always..

I trust in God

Everytime we celebrate the new year Feng shui experts and fortune tellers are always seen on most TV programs giving their predictions about what to expect in the coming year. And this year according to Feng Shui is my lucky year, somehow I would like to grab the chance and make the most out of it, anyway they always say that there’s no harm in following their advice as long as we take them positively. So to start with there are some small business opportunity that I am considering this year. Last month I met a businessman who’s starting a new business and he said he needs help on some technical aspects of their project. He said if I could help them he’s willing to get my services as a part time chemist. They are also open to the idea of having me as business partner. For me it’s a great opportunity! For 15 years I’ve been waiting for a career move and now the chance has come for me to prove myself. If it's indeed my lucky year then i should not let this chance to pass. :)

But of course I don't just rely on pure luck, only God knows what our future is. And everything that I have in mind right now all my future plans, I completely lay them all before Him. I still pray to God for His wisdom and guidance in all aspects of my life.

Jeremiah 29:11- “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Though i started blogging only last year I'm really grateful that i have gained new friends from different parts of the world and from all walks of life.
